CAAS Airbus A320 Type Rating

STAA is a CAAS-approved Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO). This programme are designed to systematically take pilots through theoretical knowledge and simulator sessions so that they can achieve the competency and confidence to handle the aircraft which they will eventually fly in. Training will be conducted with computer-based training tools and flight training devices, including Full Flight Simulator.


  • Age: 18 years and above
  • Education: Minimum ‘A’ Levels certificate or equivalent preferred (those with 5 GCE ‘O’ Level credits including Mathematics, English and a Science subject may be considered)
  • Applicants must hold at least a Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating (Aeroplanes)
  • Applicants are not required to hold an Airline Transport Pilot Licence or ATPL, but they must have passed their ATPL (Theory) examinations
  • Applicants who are going for their first Multi-Pilot Aircraft (MPA) type rating must have a Multi Crew Cooperation course completion certificate, or a Civil Aviation Authority-issued letter of exemption
  • Terms or requirement for any industrial attachment is not applicable


  • 5 days of theory (tutorial/CBT/revision/progress test/exam)
  • 9 sessions of A320 Fixed Base Simulator training
  • 9 sessions of A320 Full Flight Simulator training
(excluding airline AFE for LOFT & Skill Test)

  • 24 days of training at the STAA Simulator Training Centre located at Seletar Aerospace Park in Singapore

Average Teacher to Student ratio - 1:2 


  • Upon completion of this course, the trainee will be ready for Final Check by airline AFE
