CAAS ATPL (Theory) Programme


The CAAS ATPL (Theory) course is tailored for those who are undecided on their flight training pathway and wish to commit to only the theoretical training first. It is also for pilots with foreign licences who intend to sit for the CAAS ATPL (Theory) examinations so as to eventually qualify for a licence or rating. 

The programme covers 14 subjects over two phases, with dedicated revision and study time allocated at the end of each phase prior to examinations.

Entry requirements for the programme

  • Age 18 years and above
  • Education: Minimum GCE 'A' Levels or equivalent peferred (those with 5 GCE ‘O’ Levels credits including Mathematics, English and a Science subject may be considered)
  • Able to pass CAAS Class 1 Aviation Medical Examination
  • Good proficiency in English language (e.g. IELTS overall grade of 5.5)
  • Male Singaporeans must have either completed or be exempted from their full-time National Service
  • No criminal conviction or finding of guilt (including all motor vehicle traffic-related convictions)

  • Full-time course in Singapore (6 months) *excluding revision & exam duration
  • Total contact hours: 750 hours
